Ísafold is a warehouse and distribution center owned and operated by our Icelandic family and based in Scarborough, Maine. Bringing in 50+ years of experience in international transport, we focus our fulfillment services on helping Scandinavian companies grow in the North American market.

STORAGE
Our customers have diverse and
ever-evolving storage needs as they expand, and we exceed their expectations. Ísafold is proud to offer both short- and long-term storage in a variety of sizes in our Maine warehouse and to adapt with your company as you grow.
PICK & PACK
Orders are received 24 hours a day, year round. Orders received before noon ET during business days are (in 99.9% of cases) picked, packed, and sent out on the same day. We use packing methods specialized to each client to ensure products reach customers in the best possible condition.
FULFILLMENT
Each day, Ísafold ships hundreds of packages throughout all 50 states. We partner with FedEx, UPS, and USPS to deliver your product directly to the customer at the speed and price that works best for your business. International shipping is also available.
FREIGHT TRANSPORT
We offer a wide range of freight transportation, both worldwide and domestic.
This includes ocean freight, a weekly service between Europe and the US; air freight; domestic rail; and trucking services.
We use 3PL Warehouse Manager, a comprehensive warehouse management platform that makes it easy for you to see your inventory and for us to automate routine tasks and save you money.

Our Company
Ísafold is a warehouse and distribution center owned and operated by our Icelandic family and based in Portland, Maine. We were established in 2017 by Ólafur Matthíasson and Bergljót Hreinsdóttir, with a mission to help Icelandic start-up companies as they grow in the United States. Five years later, we are proud to bridge the gap between many Scandinavian webshops and their North American customers.
Our Expertise
Our family is deeply involved with fulfillment, shipping, logistics, and Icelandic products. Our other businesses include North Atlantic Cargo Line (NACLine), an international shipping company with a focus on routes between North America, Greenland, Iceland, Faroe Islands, and Northern Europe; and Askjan, an online storefront for specialty Icelandic products in the US.
Ísafold Distribution Center is a subsidiary of North Atlantic Cargo Line (NAC-Line).

Bergljót Hreinsdóttir
Begga manages finances and accounting at Ísafold and North Atlantic Cargo Line. Before moving to the United States in 2007, she worked for Air Atlanta Icelandic in the finance department. In the United States, she has held accounting and finance positions at Samskip and BMK Ventures in Virginia Beach.

Alexander Ólafsson
Alexander has extensive knowledge and experience from the transport sector, where he has worked for the past 14 years. Before joining Ísafold, he worked for Samskip, Masterpiece International, Einstök, CFR Rinkens. Alexander also works as Operations Manager at North Atlantic Cargo Line.

Ólafur Matthíasson
Ólafur (or Óli) has worked in international transport for over thirty years. His first acquaintance with transport began in 1969 when he worked as a sailor at Eimskip. In 1986, he started working for Skipaafgreiðsla Jes Zimsen (today TVG Zimsen), and thus began an uninterrupted transport career. He has held positions at Samskip in both Reykjavik, Iceland and Norfolk, Virginia. Olafur is also Founder and CEO of North Atlantic Cargo Line.

Josh Thebarge
JOSH
Josh oversees pick and pack operations and shipping protocols. Before joining Ísafold, he worked for Bull Moose where he gained years of experience shipping a high volume of e-commerce orders through their website as well as optimizing shipping performance for the company. Josh has carried over these skills to Ísafold along with over a decade of customer service experience.

Hlíf Ólafsdóttir
Hlíf provides customer service and participates in the fulfillment and distribution of our clients' products at Ísafold. Hlíf is also Operations Specialist at North Atlantic Cargo Line and Manager at Askjan.
